Welcome! Morgan Crackel is a special education teacher in the Chicago suburbs. After growing up with an uncle who had Down syndrome, she has always had a passion for inclusion. As a result, Coffee with Character was born! CWC is a mobile coffee truck that aims to provide meaningful employment opportunities for young adults with developmental disabilities.
OUR LOGO
Our logo is near and dear to our mission of inclusion! Morgan, CWC's founder, grew up with an Uncle who had Down Syndrome. The lessons learned about life and inclusion through her Uncle Tom are the main reasons this coffee shop exists, so it only seemed fitting to include him in our logo!
Uncle Tom kept journals throughout his life. He would write down the NFL matchups for the week, the names of people who visited his house, and other random things. A local graphic designer was able to take one of Tom's old journals and piece together letters from his writing to form the word “character.” Character is a word that sums up Tom's personality well. Anyone who had the pleasure of meeting him instantly knew he was quite the character!
Tom's distinct handwriting being present in our logo is the perfect reminder for why this dream exists, and just how important inclusion is!
